Newest sign of chess

A notice of the national sports institute (IPD) dated 26 December 2025 says its free Academia IPD programme for ages 6 to 17 opens enrolment on 2 January 2026, with classes in Lima from 9 January, and lists chess first among the programme’s 26 disciplines; it names Lima venues such as the Estadio Nacional, Canto Grande and the Coliseo Dibós but does not say which of them teach chess. A public-television report of 18 January 2025, on the opening of the 2025 programme at the IPD’s Santa Anita complex, says chess classes would be added there from February 2025; no later page names chess at a Lima venue.
